Does Resware auto-attach incoming faxes?
Resware only sends out faxes. Resware does not handle incoming faxes because there is not a way to associate the incoming fax with a file number in Resware. However, since Resware processes incoming emails, if the incoming fax was sent as an email, and it contained a valid Resware file number in the subject, then it would get attached as a note to the file in Resware.
I added a new office in Resware and users in that office can’t fax. What did I do wrong?

When I send a fax I see in the Faxes tab on the Homepage that the status is “Failed”, the message is “Send Note Failed:”, and the detail says “An error occurred when sending the note: Sending fax failed: No fax host exists for user.”
The error “No fax host exists for user.” indicates that a new office was added and that Adeptive needs to manually edit the FaxServerOfficeRel table and add a row for the new office.
Why might a fax fail?
- “Failed: busy” or “Failed: no answer”: The phone number is busy or didn’t answer; the server has re-tried the number a few times before giving up.
- “Failed: fax call failed”: Unknown; possibly a problem getting a dial-tone on the outgoing line?
- “Failed: remote is not a fax terminal”: The fax number that the user is faxing to either isn’t a fax, or is a fax that the fax server can’t communicate/negotiate with. Determine if the user can send a fax to the number with a normal fax machine.
- “Process took too long”: The Resware server waits for 3 minutes for the fax server to respond to a request for status. After three minutes, it gives up and assumes that the fax has failed for some reason.

The user’s Resware login must be identical to the login on the Castelle fax servers. If the user has two Resware logins (eg: coryk and corykk) then two logins must also exist on the Castelle server. Ask the IT department to add users if needed.
My faxes keep failing with the error message ‘Attachment conversion failed : 1701’
When converting your documents to a faxable format, GFI will wait 270 seconds for the conversion to finish. In this case, the conversion never completed, so you go this error message. The likely cause was a popup message on the GFI fax server. This isn’t a Resware issue, it is a GFI issue. Please have your IT person talk to GFI about a possible solution.
