Notices are typically used to notify users of enhancements, upcoming downtime, and general information dissemination. A given notice will only appear for a user once. Notices that the user has not previously seen are displayed to users upon login, and, if a notice is added while a user is logged in, the user will see the notice when he or she opens a file or creates a new file. The Notices menu item is only available to users with the Admin: Notices role enabled.
