The Office of Foreign Assets Control, or OFAC, of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on US foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, and those engaged in related activities.

This demonstrates how to set up and use the integration with Paylynx’s SimpliRisk OFAC scanning services. SimpliRisk will add a lien to a file when results are returned to the file and can add a note to the file with an office option.

Begin here: Contact SimpliRisk for further information call (505) 217-0979. Inform SimpliRisk the account will be a Resware integration. Account information including a username and password will be provided.

Updated product type option: Run Patriot Act Search

Office options

Admin> General Setup> Offices> Miscellaneous

The following three office options are available related to this integration. The Patriot Act Search: Enable Patriot Act Search office option is required for the service to run correctly; the other two office options are optional.

  • Patriot Act Search: Add Note – if enabled, results will be added to the file in a note.
  • Patriot Act Search: Enable Patriot Act Search – when enabled, a patriot search can be run if either XML client (ISTWatch or SimpliRisk) is enabled and configured (see below).
  • Patriot Act Search: Run when Buyer/Seller is added or name changes – if enabled, a search will run whenever a buyer/seller is added or a name is changed instead just when a search is triggered via an action.

Set up the XML client

Verify that the Patriot XML client is disabled. The PatriotAct and SimpliRisk XML clients cannot be enabled simultaneously.

Admin> General Setup> XML Clients

  • Highlight SimpliRisk and click Edit.
  • Check Enabled to enable the integration.
  • Set the Web Service URL to https://www3.simplirisk.com/cu/rest/v1/ofacscan.
  • Set the Outgoing Username to the username provided by SimpliRisk.
  • Set the Outgoing Password to the password provided by SimpliRisk.
  • The credentials supplied are IP specific and cannot be used on another system.
  • Click Save.
  • Verify that the PatriotAct client is disabled. If not, click Edit and disable, then click Save.

Enable the option on product types

Admin> Action Lists> Product Types

  • Edit each product for which the SimpliRisk functionality is needed.
  • In the Miscellaneous Options area, enable the Run Patriot Act Search option.
  • Click Save.

Add the XML package to products

Admin> Action Lists> Product Types

  • Edit each product for which the SimpliRisk functionality is needed.
  • Select the XML tab.
  • Add SimpliRisk.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Save, Close.

Action trigger

File> Actions

When a hit is returned by SimpliRisk, an action trigger is set by default to auto-start an action to notify the Examining coordinator.

To change the coordinator that is notified:

Admin> Action Groups

  • Select the Default External Triggers group and click Edit Actions.
  • Select the Internal: Patriot Act Hit action group and click Edit Action.
  • Select the Coordinator from the drop-down menu.
  • Click Save.

Examples on a file – Information returned

File> Search Data> General

This panel will contain shows the lien(s) that are added to the file from SimpliRisk when a search is returned.

Note: A HIT on the OFAC list will be returned to Resware with a LienTypeID of 2, and a NO MATCH FOUND will be returned with a LienTypeID of 3. These lien types can be used to set up the hits to auto-add to the search commitment while omitting the names with no match. If no match liens should not be added to the file, simply disable LienTypeID 3.

This panel shows the notes that are added to the file when a search is returned from SimpliRisk if the office option for Patriot Act Search: Add Note is enabled.
